   In May 2020, CAIConsulting, in a consortium with the Chinese consulting company NAREE International Limited, started an implementation of the Asian Development Bank project "Preparing a development program" Reform of the school education sector". Further directions in the field of educational policy will be developed in the course of this transitional technical assistance, together with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic. Also, an investment component, that will help improve the teaching and learning of science, technology, techniques and mathematics (STEM) in middle and high schools of Kyrgyzstan, is proposed. It is planned to carry out: analysis of the consistency of educational program in STEM subjects horizontally and vertically and proposals for their improvement; analysis of reforms to implement the strategy of teachers’ professional development and its effective implementation in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic. The Investment Component of the project will help the Ministry of Education and Science develop a comprehensive operational concept for the “Schools of the Future” program, implement the program, develop clear school selection procedures and improve school infrastructure.

   The first step in the implementation of this project was an Introductory Seminar, which took place on June 24, 2020 in Bishkek with the participation of specialists from the Ministry of Education and Science, representatives of the Asian Development Bank and experts in the field of school education. The main goal of the seminar was to discuss with the relevant stakeholders the scope of the proposed technical assistance, the approach to the tasks implementation and mechanisms for further implementation of technical assistance.
